Swissceramics, the ceramics association in Switzerland, is showcasing new works by 44 ceramic artists from across the country in the exhibition Fantasy Island at the Kunst[Zeug]Haus in Rapperswil-Jona. The theme was chosen to chime with the art gallery’s unique collection of texts relating to Daniel Defoe’s novel Robinson Crusoe, the story of a castaway who spends many years marooned on a remote desert island. Celebrating the 300th anniversary of its publication in 2019, the book and its themes have provided inspiration for the selected artisans, who have created new works especially for the exhibition. Fantasy Island runs from now until 21 April.
