This week our initiative is focusing on how you can support artisans affected by the economic downturn due to covid-19, by commissioning a piece or buying online. FRESS are promoting the work of their collection of talented Portuguese artisans who work on site in 13 workshops. These workshops are open to the public, enabling craftspeople to have direct contact with visitors and to collaborate on commissions for one-of-a-kind objects. The FRESS online shop also offers an array of unique pieces handcrafted by the resident craftspeople, from handmade furniture, mirrors and lamps to porcelain plates, silverware and marbled stationary. BeCraft, the New Craftsmen and Meisterstrasse are also placing a big focus on their online curated shops. Whilst, Craft Council UK have been encouraging collectors to support craftspeople through the Instagram artist pledge support, which gives buyers the chance to buy pieces at special prices.
