The German Crafts Association (Bundesverband Kunsthandwerk BK) is the umbrella organization for professional craftspeople in Germany. Its main aim is to represent its members' interests in the economic and cultural promotion of contemporary arts and crafts. BK counts craftspeople, designers and freelance artists as members. The association’s work focuses on the cultural promotion of contemporary crafts throughout Germany, with the objective of elevating contemporary crafts to a more prominent position in the public sphere. BK organizes exhibitions and special viewings of members' works, as well as member participation at design and craft fairs. Through their magazine and newsletter they promote their community of craftspeople and report on relevant news from the world of arts and crafts.
